Determination of Total Tannin by Colorimetry Method in ”Jati belanda” (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk) leaf
Abstrak

Objectives:  ”Jati belanda” (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk) leaf were usually using  in traditional medicine in Indonesia for reduce body fat. The main secondary metabollite from that plants were tannin. So tannin can use as marker compound in standardization of phytopharmaca.

Methods: Determination of total tannins in  ”jati belanda” (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk) leaves by colorimetric method using reagent 1,10- phenanthroline has been done. The determination is based on  reduction reaction of iron (III) to iron (II) by tannin, and then the iron (II) reacts with 1,10-phenanthroline to form an orange red colored complex.

Results: The result showed total tannin and “jati belanda” leaves were 0.069 ± 0.001%w/w. Validation parameter were correlation coefficient (r) = 0.9987, limit of detection (LOD) = 0.318 µg/mL, limit of quantitation (LOQ) = 1.059 µg/mL, % coefficient variation(% CV) were 1.23%, and percent recovery were 90.51±1.11%.

Abstrak
Daun sirih merah (Piper cf fragile Benth.) dan sirih hijau (Piper betle L.) biasa digunakan masyarakat untuk perawatan tubuh maupun untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit karena kandungan minyak atsirinya. Eugenol merupakan salah satu komponen dalam minyak atsiri daun sirih. Untuk mengetahui kandungan eugenol dalam minyak atsiri dari daun sirih merah dan sirih hijau perlu dilakukan penetapan kadar. Dalam penelitian ini minyak atsiri diisolasi dengan destilasi uap dan air, kemudian eugenol ditetapkan kadarnya secara kromatografi gas menggunakan pelarut aseton, fase diam fenil polisifenilsiloksan, dengan detektor FID. Rendemen minyak atsiri yang diperoleh dari daun sirih merah dan sirih hijau adalah 0,035% dan 0,27%, dengan kadar eugenol masing-masing sebesar 10,11% dan 3,72%. Terdapat perbedaan kadar eugenol yang nyata dalam minyak atsiri dari daun sirih merah dan sirih hijau dengan dengan thitung sebesar 183,2149 lebih besar dari ttabel (2,306).

Formulasi Sediaan Losion Antioksidan Ekstrak Air Daun Teh Hijau

ABSTRACT

The research about lotion dosage formulation that contain green tea leaf water extract with concentration 0.0002%, 0.002%, 0,02%, and 8.6% had been done. The basic of the EC50 value. Was calculated from linierity regression equation between tested solution concentration and scavenging percent. The lotion formulation began with lotion base orientation included organoleptic, homogeinity, pH, and viscosity. It showed that lotion base with glyceryl monostearate 5.5% have the best pH stability, viscosity, and consistency. Evaluation of lotion dosage include physical evaluation (organoleptic, homogeinity, viscosity and stability) and chemical evalution (pH and the stability of lotion antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity stability evaluation of lotion with 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl solution using spectrophotometri UV-Visible showed, that formula which contain 0.02% and 8.6% green tea leaf water extract gave the best radical scavenging activity and stable during storage.
