Formulation and the antioxidant activity of Cincau hijau leaves (Cyclea barbata L. Miers) ethanolic extract
Abstrak

Cincau hijau (Cyclea barbata L.Miers) is a plant that has antioxidant activity. One of its secondary metabolites is flavonoid. The research studied the extract of Cyclea barbata leaves in 4 different gel formulas and investigated the accelerated stability for 3 months at room temperature and at 400C with a humidity of 75% and as well as evaluated the antioxidant activity using DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The results showed that all formulas showed different activity after 3 months storage at 400C. Formula 2 has stronger antioxidant activity than formula 4, formula 1 and formula 3 with IC50 value of 57.60; 59.22; 67.73 and 72.14 µg/mL respectively. All formulas demonstrated antioxidant activity and can be used to inhibit the premature aging of the skin.

In Vitro and In Vivo Antiplasmodial Activities of Garcinia Parvifolia (MIQ) MIQ Leaves From Indonesia
Abstrak

Abstract: The objective of this research is to determine in vitro and in vivo antiplasmodial activities of G. parvifolia(Miq) Miqleaves. Methods: in vitro antiplasmodial test by microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green Ibased Fluorescence (MSF) assay is indicated by the value of IC50; meanwhile, in vivo antiplasmodial assay used suppression method for 4 hours in P.berghei-infected mice. Leaves of G. parvifolia(Miq)Miq were extracted by means of chloroform and methanol solvent, and then the anti-plasmodium activity is tested in vitro by means of microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) methods. Results: In microscopic method, the value of IC50 was obtained from chloroform extract i.e. 33.17 µg/mL in D6 strain and 0.55 µg/mL in W2 strain. In Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) method, the IC50 value was obtained from methanol extract i.e. 48.00µg/mL in D6 strain and 56.37µg/mL in W2 strain. In vivo assay found that chloroform extract had an ED50 value of 156.22mg/kgBW, stronger than that of methanol extract with an ED50 value of 412.92mg/kgBW. Conclusions: The study concludes that chloroform and methanol extracts of G. parvifolia(Miq) Miq leaves have anti-plasmodium activity against P. falcifarum culture of D6 strain, W2 strain on microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) methods just like in vivo assay in P. berghei-infected mice does. The assay found that chloroform extract has stronger anti-plasmodial activity than methanol extract. Ethno-botanical survey of plants used in the traditional treatment of malaria in Sei Kepayang, Asahan of North Sumatera
Abstrak

Objective: To investigate and collect information from traditional health healer/tribal communities on the use of medicinal plants for treatment of malaria in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North Sumatera. Methods: The ethno-botanical study was conducted in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North rSeusmpoanteseras wine rJea dnoucaurmy-eMntaerdc.h 2013 through questionnaire and personal interviews, and their Results: The present study enumerated 16 ethno-medicinal plant species belonging to 13 families used by the tribal communities and medicinal healers in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North Swuemrea atelsrao idno ctruematemnetendt .of malaria. Some of the recipes, methods of preparation and administration Conclusions: From the interviews conducted, 16 plant spesies belonging to 13 families have been identified in the treatment of malaria.

Senyawa flavonoid dari fase n-butanol dari ekstrak metanol daun keladi tikus (Typhonium flagelliforme (Lodd) Blume
Abstrak

 

Background: Keladi tikus (Typhonium flagelliforme (Lodd|) Blume) is nutritious plant in treating disesses, one of them as cancer. The chemical compounds contained is flavonoid.

 

Method: Isolation and identification of flavonoid compound from n-buthanol phase in methanol extract keladi tikus leaves has been done with paper chromatography method using n-buthanol-acetic acid-water (4:1:5) and 15% acetic acid as eluent.

 

Results: The results of first identification with color reaction showed that the flavonoid compounds were the flavone, chalcon and auron. Identification using UV-Vis spectra showed two bands absorption at a wavelength maximum of 328 and 271 nm suggested that the isolated was flavone and isofalvone. Identification with shifting reagents added indicated flavone compound with hydroxyl group at C-5 and C-7. Infrared spectra indicatedcharacteristic functional groups of –OH-banded, C=O, C=C aromatic, and C-H aromatic. LC-MS spectrum of the isolated compound showed an [M+H+]+ ion peak at m/z = 255 with retention time of 2.35 minute.

 

Conclusion: Based on the results of the analysis data, it can be concluded that the compound are suspected   5,7-dihydroxyflavone.

Analisis Perbandingan Material Agregat Terhadap Karakteristik Campuran Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC)
Abstrak

Setiap agregat memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda-beda dari satu wilayah dengan wilayah yang lain, bahkan dari satu lokasi dengan lokasi yang lain dalam wilayah yang sama. Kebanyakan konstruksi jalan di Wilayah Jabodetabek menggunakan material agregat yang bersumber dari tiga quarry di Jawa Barat yaitu Gunung Bitung, Gunung Rumpin, dan Gunung Sudamanik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan karakteristik campuran aspal material agregat dari tiga quarry tersebut melalui nilai karakteristik Marshall pada campuran beton aspal dengan menggunakan Spesifikasi Bina Marga Revisi III (2010). Metode eksperimental digunakan untuk mengetahui material agregat mana yang baik untuk konstruksi beton aspal dengan proporsi campuran agregat yaitu Agregat kasar 38%, Agregat Sedang 17% dan Agregat Halus 45% terhadap total campuran aspal yang telah ditentukan oleh Bina Marga (2010). Pengujian pada campuran aspal dengan material dari tiga quarry tersebut didapat kadar aspal optimum (KAO) masing-masing 6,65%, 5,85%, dan 6,65%. Hasil pengujian Marshall didapat nilai parameter karakteristik campuran untuk campuran aspal dengan material dari Gunung Bitung berupa VIM (4,40%), VMA (17,30%), VFB (74,30%), Stabilitas (1180 Kg), Flow (3,63 mm), MQ (218 kg/mm), untuk campuran aspal dengan material dari Gunung Rumpin berupa VIM (4,14%), VMA (16,53%), VFB (74,80%), Stabilitas (1120 Kg), Flow (3,62 mm), MQ (318 kg/mm) dan untuk campuran aspal dengan material dari Gunung Sudamanik berupa VIM (3,84%), VMA (17,23%), VFB (77,20%), Stabilitas (1253 Kg), Flow (3,22 mm), MQ (389 kg/mm). Hasil karakteristik Marshall pada KAO untuk campuran aspal dengan material dari Gunung Bitung, Gunung Rumpin, dan Gunung Sudamanik telah memenuhi spesifikasi, namun material dari quarry Gunung Sudamanik memiliki karakteristik paling baik diantara ketiganya.
