Aktivitas Penghambatan xanthine oxidase ekstrak etanol dan air dari herba suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L.)
Abstrak

Xanthine oxidase adalah enzim yang bekerja mengoksidasi hipoxanthine menjadi xanthine dan selanjutnya membentuk asam urat di dalam tubuh. Terjadinya peningkatan kadar asam urat didalam tubuh yang melebihi batas normal disebabkan mengkonsumsi makanan yang banyak mengandung purin dan kurangnya kemampuan ginjal dalam mengekskresikan asam urat. Herba suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L.) merupakan tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas dalam menghambat xanthine oxidase. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan daya hambat xanthine oxidase (IC50) dari ekstrak etanol dan air. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kental herba suruhan dalam pelarut etanol dan pelarut air memiliki kadar flavonoid total sebesar 4,23% dan IC50 40,79 bpj dan  Ekstrak kental herba suruhan dalam pelarut air memiliki kadar flavonoid sebesar 1,43% dan IC50 43,11 bpj. Ekstrak etanol dan air herba suruhan memiliki penghambatan terhadap xanthine oxidase

Antioxidant and toxicity activity of keladi tikus (Typhonium flagelliforme (Lodd) Blume) using spray and freeze drying method
Abstrak

Keladi tikus (Tlphonium flagelliforme (Lodd.) Blume) is one o$t}re plants that can be used
for alternafive medicine as an anticancer. Researh on the antioxidant activity and toxicity of
ethanol exracts had been carried out Keladi tikus leaf powder was macerated using ethanol
50, 70, and,96016, then concentrated by rotary evaporator. Viscous e:ftracts were dried using
spray dryer and freeze dryer. The erftract tested antioxidant activity against ftee radical
DPPH and toxicity against brine shrimp Artemia salina (BSLI), then ICso and LCso values
obtained were statisticallytested by the method of two-wayANOVA" The results showed that
the highest antioxidant activity and toxicity was obEined from the 7096 ethanol extract using
freeze dryer with ICso value of 38.57 ppm to test the antioxidant activity and LCso value of
t7.46 ppm for BSLT toxicity test. Based on the ANOVA test result that the treatrnent method
of drying providing real difference in the LCso and ICso values, while the difference in
concentration can only affect significandy the ICso value.

Formulation and the antioxidant activity of Cincau hijau leaves (Cyclea barbata L. Miers) ethanolic extract
Abstrak

Cincau hijau (Cyclea barbata L.Miers) is a plant that has antioxidant activity. One of its secondary metabolites is flavonoid. The research studied the extract of Cyclea barbata leaves in 4 different gel formulas and investigated the accelerated stability for 3 months at room temperature and at 400C with a humidity of 75% and as well as evaluated the antioxidant activity using DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The results showed that all formulas showed different activity after 3 months storage at 400C. Formula 2 has stronger antioxidant activity than formula 4, formula 1 and formula 3 with IC50 value of 57.60; 59.22; 67.73 and 72.14 µg/mL respectively. All formulas demonstrated antioxidant activity and can be used to inhibit the premature aging of the skin.

In Vitro and In Vivo Antiplasmodial Activities of Garcinia Parvifolia (MIQ) MIQ Leaves From Indonesia
Abstrak

Abstract: The objective of this research is to determine in vitro and in vivo antiplasmodial activities of G. parvifolia(Miq) Miqleaves. Methods: in vitro antiplasmodial test by microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green Ibased Fluorescence (MSF) assay is indicated by the value of IC50; meanwhile, in vivo antiplasmodial assay used suppression method for 4 hours in P.berghei-infected mice. Leaves of G. parvifolia(Miq)Miq were extracted by means of chloroform and methanol solvent, and then the anti-plasmodium activity is tested in vitro by means of microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) methods. Results: In microscopic method, the value of IC50 was obtained from chloroform extract i.e. 33.17 µg/mL in D6 strain and 0.55 µg/mL in W2 strain. In Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) method, the IC50 value was obtained from methanol extract i.e. 48.00µg/mL in D6 strain and 56.37µg/mL in W2 strain. In vivo assay found that chloroform extract had an ED50 value of 156.22mg/kgBW, stronger than that of methanol extract with an ED50 value of 412.92mg/kgBW. Conclusions: The study concludes that chloroform and methanol extracts of G. parvifolia(Miq) Miq leaves have anti-plasmodium activity against P. falcifarum culture of D6 strain, W2 strain on microscopic and Malaria SYBR Green I-based Fluorescence (MSF) methods just like in vivo assay in P. berghei-infected mice does. The assay found that chloroform extract has stronger anti-plasmodial activity than methanol extract. Ethno-botanical survey of plants used in the traditional treatment of malaria in Sei Kepayang, Asahan of North Sumatera
Abstrak

Objective: To investigate and collect information from traditional health healer/tribal communities on the use of medicinal plants for treatment of malaria in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North Sumatera. Methods: The ethno-botanical study was conducted in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North rSeusmpoanteseras wine rJea dnoucaurmy-eMntaerdc.h 2013 through questionnaire and personal interviews, and their Results: The present study enumerated 16 ethno-medicinal plant species belonging to 13 families used by the tribal communities and medicinal healers in Sei Kepayang, Asahan District of North Swuemrea atelsrao idno ctruematemnetendt .of malaria. Some of the recipes, methods of preparation and administration Conclusions: From the interviews conducted, 16 plant spesies belonging to 13 families have been identified in the treatment of malaria.
